民歌是民间文化的重要组成部分,是反映一个地区普通民众思想、感情、信仰等内在思维内容以及社会变化、地方风俗等外在现实情况的重要载体。鄂尔多斯民歌种类丰富、数量较多,更重要的是它的传承保护做得很好,传统曲目、反映地方风情的曲目在民间广受喜爱、充满活力,所以通过考查鄂尔多斯民歌可以较为清晰地了解清末以至于近代以来地区婚恋风俗中的一些显著特征。
