蒙德里安的简约绘画风格,直接影响着现代西方绘画的许多领域。他作品中的线条、色块似乎已经成为时尚的代言词。在蒙德里安的世界里,艺术就是信仰,是至高无上的,它不能复杂,只能简单,简单到一条直线、一块色块,哪怕一条对角斜线也不能出现,简单到纯粹的时候一切就开始升华。蒙德里安一直想要使它充满活力,表达出不对称的平衡。蒙德里安艺术的意义在于他把方法缩减到简单地表现一种往往是两条直线在直角上相交的关系,以此来寻求造型艺术的单纯。
