在来到印尼之前,对于这个国家,我并不知道太多有关的信息。我个人知识库中有关这个国家的地缘信息,几乎全部来自那点为数有限的学校教育,比如广阔的海洋和森林以及对于华人下南洋的奋斗史的想象。然而这几年在当代艺术的视野里,印尼却是一个频频被提及和讨论的话题,印尼华裔商人对中国当代艺术表现出的令人诧异的热情,使他们成为中国的拍卖市场,画廊和经纪人趋之若鹜的对象。8月的印尼当代艺术论坛,在经济危机背景下的经济低迷期萌生,这次印尼之行的邀请方——近两年出手果断的印尼商人余德耀,又一次声势浩大地组织了十余人的艺术队伍,从欧洲,美国、新加坡、澳洲、中国各个方向共赴南太平洋岛国印尼。
Before coming to Indonesia, I did not know much about this country.
