不少人都知道,是董仲舒建议独尊儒术,被汉武帝采纳。但很少人注意,其实是汉武帝早就决定要独尊儒术。汉武帝即位之初,建元元年,即下诏天下举贤良方正。丞相卫绾奏道:“所举贤良,或治申、商、韩非、苏秦、张仪之言,乱国政,请皆罢。”(《汉书·武帝纪》)依司马迁的分类,则申、商、韩非,都“归本干黄老”。罢除治申、商,韩非之言者,也就是罢除了黄老的外围。汉武帝采纳了卫绾的意见,实现了独尊儒术的第一步。
