Since gold deposits were discovered in Witwatersrand in the southern part of Transvaal in 1884, the gold production industry in South Africa has been booming. It has been proven that South Africa’s gold reserves amounted to 24,900 tons, accounting for 61% of the world’s total gold reserves (41,100 tons). According to the “World Mineral Handbook” (1987), South African gold production averages about 800 tons per year. In 1985 alone, South Africa’s gold production reached 845.3 tons, accounting for 77.1% of the world’s total gold production. From the viewpoint of gold reserves, production, and foreign exchange, South Africa ranks first in the world, and it is actually a “golden kingdom.” South Africa is rich in gold because it has geological conditions unmatched by other countries in the world. About four billion years ago, when the shell began to cool from the molten state, the most primitive continental nucleus appeared. At the time, south of central Canada, parts of the Soviet Union, Brazil, Australia, and South Africa
