填海造陆是指把原有的海域、湖区或河岸转变为陆地。向大海要地是中国的传统,根据记载,中国早在两千年前的汉朝就已经在进行沿海开发。不仅在中国,荷兰、日本、韩国等国家都在填海造陆。荷兰自13世纪起就开始大规模围海填海,如今,荷兰国土的20%是人工填海造出来的,故有“上帝造海,荷人造陆”之称。日本早在11世纪就有了填海造陆的历史记
Land reclamation refers to the original sea area, lake or bank into land. To the sea is a Chinese tradition.
