This article introduced the foam and its basic properties, studied the performance of the foam related to the displacement effect and laboratory experiments, such as the flow characteristics, viscosity, stability, filtration performance and so on. The mechanism of enhanced oil recovery by foam flooding is expounded. It has the dual role of improving wave propagation coefficient and flooding efficiency. The field application of foam flooding in Shengli Oilfield and its good effect are discussed in detail. Among them, the well group Shengtuo 3-5-23 is valid for 3 years with an oil increment of 5 × 104t or more. During the construction period of 4 months, The ratio is up to 1:10. In the grass 20-1O-18 well group, the oil increase is over 6,000t in 8 months and the water cut rate is 5% -8%. In the grass 20-19-13 well group, the oil increase in 6 months 5000t, moisture content decreased by 10%. Foam flooding is a promising method of enhancing oil recovery.
