U.S. lawmakers are planning a space law reform bill that will likely strip the Department of Defense’s space orbital target from tracking responsibility. As space gets more crowded, the workload of the Ministry of Defense, especially the Air Force, has risen dramatically. US lawmakers believe the FAA, which has now played a role in commercial space launch operations, should assume more responsibility. The United States Space Reconnaissance Act may eventually shift responsibility for space situational awareness and space transport management from the Pentagon to civilian agencies. US Air Force officials said the Air Force is currently responsible for tracking about 23,000 objects a day and issuing crash warnings. According to the data, global satellite operators adjust one every 3 days
