乔治亚·奥基弗(Georgia O’Keeffe,1887-1986)绝对是美国最负盛名的现代主义绘画先驱,她的作品带有鲜明的个人色彩,她笔下的一花一草、一砖一瓦皆有一种非凡的灵气,天然流露出对生命本质的探索。她之所以在男权世界被冠以“最杰出的的女画家”头衔,很重要的一个原因是她的创作中被解读出隐含着某种女权主义和女性意识。对于这一点,她本人并没有否认。不过,她曾坦言:“男人喜欢说我是最杰出的的‘女画家’。我认为,我是最好的‘画家’之一。”
Georgia O’Keeffe (1887-1986) is definitely the forerunner of the most prestigious modernist painting in the United States. Her work has a distinct personal touch.
