已于1990年动工兴建的宝中铁路起自陇海铁路虢镇车站,经陕、甘、宁三省区,连接包兰铁路宁夏引水桥车站,全长498.2km。其中在宁夏境内经中卫、中宁、同心、海原和固原5县,长达286.7km。宝中铁路建设对宁夏沿线地区开发的意义到底如何评价,作用有多大,这一问题的超前研究无疑有助于该区域的开发。但是,铁路交通的区域作用的科学评价是一个非常重要的理论问题,目前,国内外尚处于研究探索阶段。本文仅就现有资料并结合区域具体条件,对此作一初步探讨。 宝中铁路建成后,近期运力每年达1500万t,国家分配宁夏运量300万t,这将大大缓解
