The peripheral blood lymphocyte subsets of 40 patients with Graves’ disease (GD) were detected by indirect immunofluorescence with monoclonal antibody. The results showed that the percentage of CD_3 ~ + and CD_8 ~ + cells in peripheral blood was significantly lower in GD patients than in normal controls (P <0.05, <0.01), and the ratio of CD_4 ~ + / CD_8 ~ <0.01). The patients with familial history of GD had abnormal persistence, while those with no familial history of GD returned to their normal T lymphocyte subsets. In addition, peripheral blood mononuclear cells from GD patients have a low ability to respond to PHA proliferation. GD patients with peripheral blood lymphocyte number and function are abnormal. Suggesting that patients with cellular immunity and humoral immune changes and the pathogenesis.
