Taking Jakobson’s terminology and classification of translation as its starting point,this paper probes into many classic literary works’interrelationship with their imagery adaptations,discusses a reconciliation of different genres without sacrificing the loss of their respective strength.This paper also draws support from other scholars’discussion of originality and intertextuality to land on a conclusion:it is fully possible to reconcile different artistic genres,and this reconciliation will,as Benjamin put it,lead to the“afterlife”of a literary work.
