如果有一个抱着满腔热情,但是“无名”的译者或著作者,在这文化建设的高潮中,希望通过出版社把他的刻苦钻研的成果贡献给广大读者的话,很不公平而且很不合理地,他往往遭受到极其冷淡的待遇。当他把他那绞尽脑汁的稿件战战竞竞地寄出去之后,他所碰到的第一枝冷箭便是:石沉大海,音讯杳无。他屡次催问,几个月或甚至半年、一年,出版社的回信来了。如果他寄出去的是译稿,他惯常得到油印好的回信:(一)“已约人译,不拟重复。”他惘然了。现在出版界严防重复,这个道理他是明白的。但是他寄去的稿子连被看的权利都没有吗?所约的译者,必定是知名之士了,所以才鸣罗开道,令庶人回避的。但那本约好的稿子何时交稿,何年出版,甚至出不出版却是无人过问的。(二)“尊译不在本社选题计划之内,不拟接受。”出版社的选题计划他是不知道的。那么他怎能恰巧选中一本“既在计划之内,又未约人”的书来翻译呢?
