封建中后期,尤其是到了近代,西部大大落后于东部地区。在近代上,曾经出现过若干次西部开发的热潮,其中较大的有三次,这三次西部开发虽为西部经济起过积极的作用,但由于开发的动因均与战争有关,因而开发过程表现出周期性的大起大落,未能形成西部经济持续发展的基础,更未能解决我国经济的均衡发展问题。
In the late feudal period, especially in the modern times, the western part lagged far behind the eastern part. In the modern era, there have been a number of upsurges in the development of the western region, three of which are larger. Although these three western development played an active part in the economic development in the western region, the development process has shown that the motive for the development has been related to the war. The ups and downs of cyclicality have failed to form the basis for the sustained development of the western economy and failed to solve the problem of the balanced development of our economy.
