在固定式平炉上维护出钢口的工作是非常重要的。维护不好不但容易发生事故(自动出钢或穿漏),而且是炼炉率不能降低的主要原因。出钢口不正常,炉内渣流不尽,炉底便易形成高低不平。在渣处越蚀越低,往往因为一个小坑就要炼炉。出钢口不能太短,至少要保持1.2~1.5米以上。正常出钢口的长度为2.5米。太短即容易发生事故。第三炼钢厂出钢口,经常发生太短的情况,有时新换出钢口,出一炉钢后即因内口塌落出钢口变得又大又短,有时外口很小,内口大旋膛,这样便波追重换出钢口,造成炉炉换出钢口的情况,影响熔炼时间。
