Objective To investigate the relationship between the development of homocysteine (Hcy), high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) and the development of coronary heart disease in blood. Methods Eighty-seven patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) were selected, including 45 patients with stable angina pectoris (SAP), 42 patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) and 50 healthy controls. The serum levels of Hcy and hs-CRP were compared between different CHD patients and normal controls. Results The levels of Hcy and hs-CRP in CHD group were significantly higher than those in normal control group (P <0.05). The levels of Hcy and hs-CRP in ASC group were significantly higher than those in SAP group (P <0.05). Conclusion Hcy and hs-CRP can promote the development of coronary heart disease.
