历时3天的第28届欧洲室内田径锦标赛于2005年5月6日在西班牙首都马德里降下帷幕。在总共22个项目的争夺中,俄罗斯队以9金2银6铜和一项世界纪录的辉煌成绩成为本届比赛的最大赢家。瑞典队和法国队分别以3金1银1铜和2金2铜列奖牌榜第2、3名。奖牌榜排名列第4～10位的分别是爱尔兰(2金)、西班牙(1金6银5铜)、英国(1金5银1铜)、葡萄牙(1金3银2铜)、乌克兰(1金2银2铜)、罗马尼亚(1金2银1铜)和白俄罗斯(1金1银)。在本届比赛中,除俄罗斯运动员伊欣巴耶娃以4.90米的成绩打破了一项世界纪录外,还产生了8项世界最好成绩,是一届收获颇丰的欧锦赛。
The 3-day 28th European Indoor Track Championships came to an end on May 6, 2005 in Madrid, the capital of Spain. In a total of 22 competitions, the Russian team won 9 gold, 2 silver and 6 bronze medals and a world record. Sweden and France, respectively, with 3 gold 1 silver 1 bronze and 2 gold 2 bronze medal standings 2,3.
