琉球(现日本冲绳)医药家吴继志,采集琉球及其附近岛屿药材,绘为详图,或制成标本,甚至盆栽,通过来华人员,与我国北京、江苏、浙江、江西、福建、广东、山西等地医药家四十六人,分别以笔问笔答方式,广为论证,共一百六十种,作《质问本草》。此四十六人中,列在前面的是北京同仁堂的周之良、邓履仁和吴美山,他们笔答如下: 启者
Wu Jizhi, a medical scientist from Ryukyu (now Okinawa, Japan), collects medicinal herbs from the Ryukyu Islands and nearby islands, and draws them as detailed drawings or specimens and even potted plants. They have come to China, Beijing, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Fujian, and Guangdong. There were forty-six medical practitioners in Shanxi and other places, each of which was written and responded to with a wide range of questions. There were a total of 160 kinds of questions and were used as the “questionnaire of herbal medicine”.
