It is generally believed that iron deficiency is one of the most common nutritional deficiencies in the United States and other regions, especially among women during menstruation (Monsen et al., 1967, Scott et al. 1967). Some scholars (Hunding et al. 1981, Clement et al. 1982) have reported that athletes have a relatively low level of iron reserves, thereby giving one the speculation as to whether exercise training can promote the release of iron reserves in the body. In recent years, more and more people participate in long-distance running exercise, especially the number of women participating in long-distance running is increasing. However, little is known about the level of iron reserve for female long distance runners. The purpose of this article is to understand the status of iron reserves by examining the iron reserves and blood parameters of amateur women’s long-distance runners and compare them with the results of the average woman.
