２００１年８月１２日，是一个非同寻常的悲壮之日。１２年前的这一天，一场惊爆于胶州湾畔的黄岛大火以其惨烈的巨大灾难，深深地灼痛着整个中华民族的心灵。１２年过去了，一座崭新的黄岛又屹立在人们的面前。然而，１２年前那把惊天动地的大火，１２年前那些为扑救黄岛大火而英勇捐躯的蹈火者，却如难以忘却的记忆，永远地凝固在我们民族的火灾历史上。今天，我们祭奠黄岛大火，正是为了让我们不要忘却黄岛大火给我们带来的创伤，记住那些赴汤蹈火的英烈，记住人类与火灾做斗争的神圣使命。
August 12, 2001 is an extraordinary day of tragedy. On the day 12 years ago, a huge fire in Huangdao, a scene shook by the Jiaozhou Bay, deeply soreed the hearts of the entire Chinese nation with its tragic catastrophe. Twelve years later, a brand new Huangdao stands in front of people. However, the earth-shattering fire 12 years ago, and the firefighters who bravely sacrificed their lives to save the Huangdao fire 12 years ago, are like unforgettable memories forever frozen in the fire history of our nation. Today, we are paying homage to the Huangdao Fire precisely to allow us not to forget the trauma caused by the Huangdao fire, to remember those sacred missions that fought heroically and kept fighting the fire.
