汶川地震后,都汶公路上发生了几十起泥石流。2008年5月13日,在甘肃文县发生了多起泥石流。2008年5月18日,在四川崇州山区的鞍子河支流火石沟暴发了泥石流。2008年7月20日,龙门山、彭州暴发泥石流,所幸发生在无人区,无人受灾。2008年9月24日凌晨四五点钟,北川县任家坪村所在的化石板沟和任家坪坡地暴发规模巨大的泥石流,任家坪村7队、9队21人死亡和失踪。任家坪村地震前共有人口1500多人,地震死亡和失踪人数150人,此次的泥石流灾害无疑雪上加霜。
