余国琮,天津大学教授,中国科学院院士。1943年毕业于西南联合大学化工系,1947年获美国匹兹堡大学博士学位。1950年冲破封锁回国工作。多年来在界面传质动力学、传递理论、过程模拟放大理论等领域作出了系统性的贡献,是我国化学工程学科的奠基人之一。他主持完成的“具有新型塔内件的高效精馏塔技术”等重大科技成果已成功应用于6000余座工业精馏塔,辐射全国30个省市自治区,有力地推动了我国精馏及相关技术的进步,在天津乃至全国取得了巨大的经济效益和社会效益,先后获得国家级科技进步二等奖1项、三等奖1项,天津市科技兴市突出贡献奖,教育部和天津市科学技术奖一等奖2项、二等奖多项,荣获天津市特级劳动模范和全国五一劳动奖章等荣誉称号。2004年12月,荣获天津市科技重大成就奖。
