通州地处长安街延长线东端,是京杭大运河的北起点,首都北京的东大门,面积906平方公里,辖10个镇、1个民族乡、4个街道办事处、480个行政村、实有人口近110万。通州具有2200年历史,西汉初建置,1997年复设北京市通州区至今。通州古为水陆进京必经之地,“乃九重肘腋之上流,六国咽喉之重镇”。
Tongzhou is located at the eastern end of Chang’an Avenue Extension Line. It is the northern starting point of Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal and the east gate of Beijing’s capital. It covers an area of 906 square kilometers and has 10 towns, 1 ethnic township, 4 sub-district offices, 480 administrative villages, The actual population of nearly 1.1 million. Tongzhou has a history of 2,200 years and was established in early Western Han Dynasty. It was rebuilt in Tongzhou District, Beijing City in 1997 to the present day. Tongzhou ancient water and ground to Beijing to pass through, “is nine elbows axillary flow, the throat of the six countries ”.
