A new enolate derivative of furostanol glycoside, named asparagusin A, was isolated from the roots of Asparagus filicinus and established as 3 - O- 6 - D- xylopyranosyl (l →4)- β - Dglucopyranosyl (25S)-furost-20(22)-ene-3β, 26-diol 26-O-0-D-glucopyranoside (l) by spectroscopic and chemical methods. Asparagusin A (l) exhibited a cytotoxic activity effect on PC_12 cells.
