日本在第二次世界大战前,即已有生产载重汽车为主的汽车工业。战后1945—1955年为日本汽车工业恢复时期,1951年汽车产量已达34万辆,其中轿车3600辆,已接近战前水平。1956年—1970年为日本汽车高速发展时期,1971年产量为580万辆,到1980年汽车产量增加到1104万辆,超过美国居世界第一位,其中轿车产量为704万辆,占汽车量的63.7%,1988年汽车产量为1269万辆,一直保持领先地位,汽车工业已成为日本的支柱产业之一,与造船、钢铁工业一起成为日本的三大经济支柱。
Japan before the Second World War, that is, the production of truck-based automotive industry. After the war 1945-1955 for the Japanese auto industry recovery period, 1951 car output has reached 340,000, of which 3,600 cars, close to the pre-war level. 1956 -1970 years of rapid development of Japanese cars, production in 1971 was 5.8 million vehicles in 1980 increased to 11.04 million, surpassing the United States in the world, of which sedan production was 704 million, accounting for the amount of cars 63.7%. In 1988, the vehicle output was 12.69 million vehicles and maintained its leading position. The automobile industry has become one of the pillar industries in Japan and together with the shipbuilding and steel industries, it has become Japan’s three major economic pillars.
