一九二八年,上海影戏公司的郑正秋、张石川,根据向恺然的武侠小说《江湖奇侠传》编导拍摄的故事影片《火烧红莲寺》,长达十八集。当年拍摄的一、二、三集长三十本。一九二九年接着拍摄了四、五、六、七、八、九集,一九三○年又拍了十、十一、十二、十三、十四、十五、十六集,一九三一年拍了十七、十八集。一九二八年至一九三一年,月明影片公司的任彭年、文搏九编导拍摄的故事影片《关东大侠》,长达十三集。一九二九年,天一影片公司的邵醉翁、李萍倩、姜起风、洪济编导的《乾隆皇帝下江南》,长达八十三本。同年拍了一、二、三、四集,一九三○年拍了五、六、七集,一九三一年又拍了八、九集。一九三○年至一九三一年,友联影片公司的顾明道,根据自己的同名武侠小说改编拍摄的故事影片
