许定铭兄从香港寄来一本《爱书人手记》的复印稿,厚厚一大册,原来是他一部快将出版的新书。他诚意而客气地请我为此书写序。我私下的反应是有点为难,是不是许兄错爱了我。也许我的年纪比他大几岁,而我们的友谊已几十年了,我们又有共同的嗜好,一直都爱猎书,尤其是新文学的旧书,绝版书。正如许兄在书中一篇《我的淘书史》的回忆:当年的黄昏时分,一群爱书人总爱齐聚到新亚书店中,一边聚谈,一边等候店主苏赓哲兄从外面搜集
Xu Ming Ming sent a copy of “Lovers’ Notes” from Hong Kong, a thick, original book that turned out to be his soon to be published new book. He kindly and politely asked me to write an order for this.
