《樊江关》这出戏,我第一次是和芙蓉草先生合演,后来又和魏莲芳先生合演过。十年动乱后恢复演出的第一出传统戏就是《樊江关》,那是和陆玉兰同志合演的,最近又和我妹妹童葆苓合演过,所以对剧中薛金莲这一人物的塑造有较深的体会。薛金莲是将门之女,父母的宠爱,哥嫂的礼让,使她养成了骄纵的脾气,心高气傲,似有毫不讲理之态。满朝文武叫她“薛大姑娘”,甚至连当时的皇帝也要称她一声“薛姑娘”,足见她的威风显赫,这是一方面。但是她又是一个未出嫁的姑娘,仍有天真活泼,聪明伶俐的一
