Previous work in our laboratory has shown that stimulating the arcuate nucleus of the hypothalamus produces a pronounced analgesic effect. At the same time brain β-endorphin content was significantly increased. Naloxone can turn this analgesic effect upside down. It is suggested that the analgesic effect of stimulating arcuate nucleus may be achieved through the release of β-endorphin. According to the text
