稀有气体氩、氦、氪、氖、氙和氡等六种元素,早在1884—1900年就相继被发现。近十年来稀有气体的制备、应用都取得了很大成果;稀有气体及其化合物的化学键理论也有很大进展。在化学学科内逐步形成了一门新的分支——稀有气体化学目前高等学校普通化学和无机化学课程教学中都介绍了稀有气体及其化合物。在教学中介绍稀有气体的独特的原子结构,有利学生加深对原子结构理论的理解。
