Most malignant thyroid tumors have a significantly reduced ability to ingest iodine. Sodium iodide transporter (NIS) is a membrane protein that mediates the transport of iodine to cells and can be used with radioactive iodine to treat tumors. Transgenic technology has now been used to express NIS protein in thyroid malignant cells that do not express or down-regulate NIS. At the same time, it was found that the decrease of iodine uptake capacity of thyroid tumor cells was not only related to the amount of NIS synthesis, but also closely related to whether NIS could be correctly anchored. In addition, the direction of the current research efforts in addition to promoting the expression of NIS and anchoring, but also to explore how to make the tumor cells intake of iodine in cells can be retained long enough to achieve the purpose of killing the tumor
