江泽民同志曾向出席中央某个座谈会的各省、自治区、直辖市负责人强调指出:“要提倡摸实情、讲实话、报实数。各级领导要深入实际,调查研究,掌握真实情况,及时发现问题,解决问题。要下决心最大限度地减少统计水分,把数字搞实,不要自欺欺人”。(引自1994年3月23日《人民日报》)讲到水分时,总书记面有愠色,在座的高级干部们从未看到一向宽厚温和的江总书记如此严肃,一个个正襟危坐,面面相觑。总书记洞察秋毫,把人们司空见惯、熟视无睹的水分问题尖锐地指出来,警世之言掷地有声,与会者无不感到问题的严峻。
