余甘子又名油甘子、山油甘(潮汕)、庵摩勒,有粗生、速生、结实早、寿命长、产量高的特性。果实富含维生素 C,营养价值仅次于中华弥猴桃,因而引起人们的重视。它的鲜果既可生食,又可加工成蜜饯、果汁等,用于中药,能止咳化痰;根有收敛止泻作用;叶可治皮炎、湿疹。我市余甘子栽培已有百余年的历史,为了摸清余甘子的品种资源,总结群众的栽培与加工经验,最近我们在主要产区对余甘子的资源分布、形态特征、主要品种、栽培与管理、加工技术等方面进行了调查,现将调查结果整理如下:
