熵这一概念出自热力学和统计物理学,但它又直接或间接地渗入了信息论、控制论、概率论、天体物理和生命工程之中。在热力学中它作为封闭系统内部无序性或混乱度的一种量度,成为热量转变为多少有用功的量度;在信息论中它作为随机事件的不确定性成为信息量的量度;成为情报中决策、部署、规划、行动的主要依据;在生物生命活动中,生物的遗传性、变异性和 蛋白质的生物合成等学说也都符合熵的原理与规律。
