温宿旧称阿克苏,是新疆历史名城之一。清光绪十年(1884)新疆建省,设阿克苏道温宿直隶州。在此之前一年兵备道罗长祜沿袭城分回汉之积习,禀请清廷批准在城南择地另建新城,即今之阿克苏。光绪二十八年(1902)于老城设温宿县,但民间仍以阿克苏老城称之,至今亦然。 清时温宿县城就是一个繁荣的商业城镇,虽道州衙门移驻新城,商业的兴旺仍一如既往。 历史上温宿城控南疆东西交通之要
