《百喻经》之句式较为整齐,多为四字一格。此句式的形成是多种因素促成的,其当与四字格自身的特点有关,句型短小、富于节奏感,故有利于佛经的记诵与书写,同时亦是受汉文化富含“四字格”以及当时四六骈文影响的结果,是为了便于传播接受而所采取的迎合中土人思维习惯的手段,是该经中土化的重要外在表现。
