Culture teaching is heatedly discussed issue in the worldwide.The importance ofcultural factors in foreign language education(FLE)has been widely acknowledgedand great efforts have been made to seek for effective ways to solve this issue.As aconsequence,a lot ofachievements have been reached,for instance,the proposition ofthree paradigms of culture teaching in westem countries,namely,explicit culturalstudies,communicative language teaching and intercultural communication.Thoughthey bear great referential value to FLE in China,they still have some weak pointswhich cannot be overcome by themselves.In China,with the theoretical explorationof cultural Linguistics and the upsurge of culture-craze,more and more peopleadvocate involving cultural factors in language programs and many beneficialattempts have been made to work out more practical ways to teach target culture inFLE.Among them,an alternative approach to teaching target culture in foreignlanguage (FL)classroom is offered to Chinese foreign language educators in thisthesis by focusing on the development of studentscommunicative creativity(CC).This proposition is not made out of thin air,but based on the comparative analysis ofthree paradigms of culture teaching in western countries in the light of Chinas reality,which is discussed in the form of test and survey.Therefore,we have good groundsfor believing this proposal will benefit culture teaching in FLE and contribute to fourmodernizations in China.
