　　Working memory,as a central cognitive function at the interface of perception and action,requires the integration of stimuli from different modalitiesin many situations.Accumulating evidence has shown that crossmodal association memory is related to the coactivation of the multiple cortical areas including association cortices and sensory cortices.However,the neural basis for initiation of the crossmodal working memory remains unclear.To do so,twenty-one subjects were asked to performa cued matching task,in which the unimodal (auditory-auditory) matching trial and crossmodal (auditory-visual) matching trial were randomly presented in each block according to a task cue (either unimodal or crossmodal) presented during the delay period of matching task.
