This paper describes our study where we have aimed to facilitate Japanese onomatopoeia learning for international students using the learning log system called SCROLL(System for Capturing and Reminding Of Learning Log).About 180,000 students are studying in Japan. In order to live in Japan, learning Japanese is a necessity.Japanese language is full of onomatopoeia.A pre-survey reveals that only 9%felt no difficulty in learning onomatopoeia at all and that most students do not do anything to learn onomatopoeia and if they do,they learn it without help from any technology. In order to facilitate their onomatopoeia learning,we propose Onomatopoeia Learning Support System using SCROLL.The result of its pilot evaluation demonstrates that the users benefited from the system. However some bug in the quiz function has been found and our future work includes its improvement together with the refinement of the learning contents and message functions.
