In recent years there have been significant advances in the development of specific molecular markers linked to floral incompatibility and sharka resistance for assisted selection(MAS)in apricot breeding programmes.In the case of floral incompatibility,there are already available molecular markers that allow in routine determine the incompatibility S alleles of each genotype.This allows the breeder not only select the self-compatible genotypes but also identify the self-compatible homozygous genotypes,which have a great genetic value as parents for breeding.
