　　Tung tree,Vernicia fordii (Hemsl.) Airy Shaw,is a diploid (2n=22) oil plant indigenous to China.It is distributed mainly in an area within 22°15′-34°30′N and 99°44′-122°7′E.The trees have been cultivated for their seeds that yield a commercially valuable drying oil on a large scale since the Tang dynasty of China.
