  High quality single crystals Sr2CuO2Cl2 and Ca3Cu2O4Cl2 are grown by flux method.The unoccupied electronic structure of Sr2CuO2Cl2 and Ca3Cu2O4Cl2 has been studied using polarization-dependent x-ray absorption spectroscopy at the O 1s and Cu 2p3/2 edges.
