Study of the excited states of nucleic acids has been undergoing a revival in recent years impelled largely by femtosecond time-resolved spectroscopy.[1,2]The properties and dynamics of nucleic acidexcited states play a pivotal role in controlling both the photostability and the propensity towards photodamageof the genetic material, which is crucial for understanding evolution of life and is also essential for public health.
