Endotoxic shock is a disease process caused by a severe underlying infection. In the case of Gram-negative bacterial infections, the release of endotoxin or lipopolysaccharide (LPS) from the bacterial cell wall causes a dramatic stimulation of LPS-responsive immune cells in the host[1].Macrophages, which are the cells most sensitive to LPS stimulation, become activated and release a battery of endogenous mediators and defense molecules, including pro-inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin (IL)-1 and it results in activation of the MAPK signaling cascadend it[2].
