An approach of continuous-discontinuous cellular automaton method for modeling rock failure process is developed, in which the level set method, discontinuous enriched shape functions, discontinuous cellular automaton and Coulomb frictional contact theory are combined.Firstly, the level set method is employed to track the location of the discontinuous structures, and the discontinuous structures are independent with the calculation grids.
