Electrical contacts are widely used for telecommunication and electric power as a device directly making and breaking electric current. In the future, those will be more in dispensable. The aim of this paper is to reveal the effect of fabrication method on arcing erosion of AgSnO2 contact materials. The experiment was performed under the same conditions. The load currents were set at DC 19V 20A and current-carrying time was about 0.3 second. In this paper, we investigate the characteristics of arc energy, arc time, welding force, mass change, surface morphology and surface profile. Moreover, the effect of fabrication method on the erosion model and the calculation of volumetric erosion were discussed. As a result, the erosion of AgSnO2 fabricated by ASE and MSE method is belong to the erosion model with many small pits. However, the erosion of AgSnO2 fabricated by CSE method is belongs to the erosion model with molten metal pool.Furthermore, the mass change measured by volumetric method is larger than that of weighing method and volumetric method is very important and useful to fully describe the condition of the contact surface.
