  Shewanella oneidensis MR-1 thrives in redox-stratified environments where the formation of reactive oxygen species(ROS)is inevitable,not mentioning that ROS could be produced endogenously.As a most common member of ROS,H2O2 stress is a typical stress agent,to which the bacterial response is extensively studied.The H2O2 threat is sensed by the OxyR,a global transcriptional regulator containing two conserved Cys residues that are oxidized by H2O2 directly.Genes that belong to the OxyR regulon in many bacteria have beenidentified,including katG,ahpCF,dps,gor,and oxyS as in Escherichia coli.
