When migrate from deep hydrocarbon reservoir to near-surface,some light hydrocarbon(C1-C4) become the sole food (carbon source) for certain types of microbes while other portion of these light hydrocarbon were absorbed by clay minerals or wrapped in alternative carbonates,these may cause microbial and geochemical anomaly in surface soil or sediments.
