Arsenic(As) contamination in groundwater has become a major concern in many countries,the main source of arsenic is geological,but human activities such as mining and pesticides also cause arsenic pollution (Adsorption of arsenate and arsenite). Microorganisms are known to play an important role in the biochemical cycle of arsenic. Arsenic is a toxicmetalloid,which primarily exists in inorganic forms of arsenite [As(III)] and arsenate [As(V)].As(III) is much more toxic and mobile than As(V),hence As(III)-oxidizing bacteria with the ability to oxidize As(III) to much less hazardous As(V) provide great potentials for As(III)bioremediation.
