Epidemiology is defined as the study of the distribution and determinants of health-related states or events in specified populations and the application of this study to control health problems.In order to improve the standard of cancer care across the developing countries, more epidemiological research is to be carried out to satisfy 5 objectives.The fast objective of cancer research is to identify the extent of the disease (prevalence and incidence of different cancers), which are known to be country-specific.The second objective is to study the natural history and prognosis of the disease in the specific country.Thirdly, cancer research is important to identify the causes and risk factors that would increase the persons risk for the disease, such as environmental and genetic factors.A fourth objective of cancer research is to evaluate the preventive and therapeutic measures of cancer in the specific country.Finally, the foundation for developing public policy and regulatory decisions are based on epidemiological studies.
